Subaru downgraded the performance of their water pumps starting with MY2004 by going from the closed back cast pump impeller to the more economical stamped open back impeller. The stamped impeller pump is less efficient and more susceptible to cavitation. We suggest installing a closed-impeller pump on any performance or motorsport Subaru engine build.
This model is designed for the 08-14 WRX that doesn't have a factory oil cooler.
